IGNAZIO SENATORE

Journalist, founder and member of the Italian National Union of Film Critics (SNCCI), he collaborates with Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno, www.taxidrivers.it, and CineCriticaWeb.it (SNCCI).
He is the Artistic Director of the International Short Film Festival “I Corti sul lettino. Cinema e Psicoanalisi”, “Cortodino Film Festival”, and “Corti in Villa”. He has published interview books with film directors such as Faenza, Piccioni, Luchetti, D’Alatri, Calopresti, and Del Monte; actors including Lando Buzzanca, Alvaro Vitali, and Nando Paone; and actresses Lina Sastri and Giuliana De Sio.
He has written numerous essays exploring the relationship between cinema and the psyche (“L’analista in celluloide”, “Curare con il cinema”, “Il cineforum del dottor Freud”, “Psycho cult”, “Cinema mente corpo”, “Cinema (italiano) e (psichiatria), and between cinema and sport” (“Quando il cinema fa goal. I 100 film più belli”, “Quando il campione recita”).
He is also the author of the volumes “Fermi tutti sono incinta. Cinema e gravidanza”, “Cantanti, musicisti e rock band. I 100 film più belli”, “Ugo Tognazzi”, “Blade Runner”, ”Il cinema visto dal buco della serratura”, “La commedia sexy alla napoletana: Enzo Cannavale, Vittorio Caprioli, Carlo Giuffrè”, and “Cinema mon amour. Cento film francesi da amare”.
Among his more recent works: “Ciak! Magistrati e avvocati al cinema” and “Dino De Laurentiis. Da Torre Annunziata a Hollywood. I suoi film”.

He has served as a FIPRESCI jury member at the”*European Film Festival” (2013, 2018, 2020) and as a juror for numerous film festivals, including Molise Cinema Film Festival” (2014), “Premio Fausto Rossano” (2015), “A corto di donne” (2016), “La grande abbuffata” (2017), “Cortisonanti” (2018), “Napoli Film Festival” (2018), “Festival Salute Mentale” (2019), “Musicalmuto” (2019), “Cortocircuito a Fregelle” (2019), “Ischia Film Festival” (2020), “Procida Film Festival” (2020, 2021), “Corti al Castello” (2019, 2022), “Social World Film Festival” (2022, 2023), “ShorTs International Film Festival” (2022), “Visioni Corte” (2022), “Montecatini International Short Film Festival” (2022), “Corto Dorico” (2022), “Sudestival” (2023), “Moonwatchers Film Festival” (2023), “Aracnea Film Festival” (2025), and “Tulipani di seta nera” (2025).
He served as President of the Jury for the 3rd and 4th editions of “Meglio matti che Corti” (Modena, 2017–2018).
A member of the “Artistic Direction” of the “CortoDino Vesuvio Film Festival and film selector for the “Festival del Cinema Italiano” (2021–2025), he is also the ”Artistic Director and co-founder (with Giuseppe Borrone)” of the short film competition “A Corto di Vino” (Guardia Sanframondi, Benevento, 2018).
He has organized several film retrospectives, including “Il cineforum del dottor Freud”, “Cinema e bioetica”, and “Il cinema nella scuola, la scuola nel cinema”.
He has written prefaces for the volumes “Vado a Roma a fare cinema” by Fernando Popoli (Il Seme Bianco, 2019) and “Da Chaplin a Loach” by Roberto Lasagna (Mimesis, 2019).
He co-founded, together with Lidia Tarantini and Barbara Massimilla, the film journal “Eidos – Cinema e Psiche”.
He has received numerous awards, including the “Adelio Ferrero Award” for his contribution to cinematic art and culture (2017), the “Mare & Cinema Award” (2019), and the “Aracnea Film Festival Award” (2025) for his work in film scholarship. A “psychiatrist and psychotherapist”, formerly a lecturer at the School of Specialization in Psychiatry at the University of Naples Federico II, he is the founder of the “Art, Music, Theatre, Cinema, and Mass Media” section of the “Italian Society of Psychiatry”.
